Release of SweepMe! 1.5.8.4 beta
We are pleased to announce the availability of SweepMe! 1.5.8.4. This update focuses on enhancing dashboard usability and extending configurability for advanced users.
Widget Overview and Dashboard Mode (SweepMe! Pro)
A new Widget Overview has been introduced to provide centralized visibility and configuration for all dashboard widgets, and can be found in the Window → Dashboard menu.
Key capabilities include:
- Showing, locking, and configuring dashboard widgets from a single interface
- Support for all SweepMe! built‑in widgets such as Plot, Monitor, Debug, and widgets from the ControlWidgets module
In addition, the Run Controls and Save Bar were moved out of the ControlWidgets module and are now integrated directly into the main application as permanent widgets, reflecting their role as global UI tools rather than part of a measurement routine.
SweepMe! can now operate in a dashboard‑focused mode without showing the main application window.
- Start via command-line parameter:
--dashboard-mode - Only the dashboard is displayed
- Useful for kiosk-style monitoring systems or setups providing only the necessary interface for operators
The dashboard mode is particularly useful together with the Run Controls and Save Bar as well as Locking the dashboard widgets to prevent accidental changes to the setting routine during operation.
User‑Defined Source Paths (SweepMe! Pro)
SweepMe! now allows users to configure additional directories that extend SweepMe!’s internal search paths.
You can define custom folders under:
Options → Paths → Configure
These user-defined paths allow SweepMe! to discover additional drivers or CustomFunction scripts, complementing the default directories defined by SweepMe!.
Notes:
- Environment variable–based path configuration is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
- SweepMe!’s default folders remain active and unchanged.
CustomFunction Improvements
- CustomFunction now loads scripts from the newly defined source paths.
- The earlier beta feature using the prefix
repo:functionnamehas been removed due to issues when using multiple custom paths. - The dropdown now lists function names grouped by their source folder, without prefixes.
- Duplicate function names should be avoided, as CustomFunction will load the first match according to the configured search path order.
